August 15, 2024 - Active Fire on Mt. Jupiter north side of Duckabush Rd approx. 3 miles from Hwy 101. Brinnon Fire Dept and DNR worked through the night to set up fire containment lines. 2 Helicopters are doing water drops. No drones are allowed in the area. Those on the 2500 block of Duckabush Road are now at a Level 2 evacuation. Those outside of that area are still at Level 1. There are 3 Levels: Level 1 "Be Alert" (stay aware & informed), Level 2 "Be Ready" (leave voluntarily or be prepared to leave), Level 3 "Leave Immediately" (imminent danger)! The Brinnon Community Center is an emergency evacuation center (light blue building on corner of Hwy 101 and Dosewallips Rd). To sign up for Jefferson County alerts text JEFFCODEM to 888777. When prompted enter the Brinnon zip code 98320. Follow the Brinnon Fire Dept Facebook page or the Brinnon Community page for updates.
IMPORTANT: When calling 911 from your mobile phone in Brinnon or surrounding areas, your call may go to a different County because of the cell tower locations. The very first thing the operator will ask is your location. This is so they can switch you to the correct county emergency operator right away. Tell them your city or county location and you will be connected in seconds. All emergency operators are trained to do this due to the vicinity of towns that are only separated by water. All landline 911 calls go to the correct county automatically.
Annual Membership Dues Invoices are mailed in April with the Annual Meeting Packet. The payment is due by May 31st! Payments need to be postmarked by the due date to avoid the late fee.
Fireworks are NOT allowed anywhere in the Olympic Canal Tracts no matter the time of year. This includes the Clubhouse, Boat Dock & Launch and River Kitchen Park. The reason for this is our insurance company informed us that if fireworks were allowed and any of our buildings caught on fire because of fireworks, they would not be covered.
Fiber Optic High Speed Internet is in Brinnon! Hood Canal Communications is currently installing internet lines in Brinnon. Service activation has started in parts of the Canal Tracts. You must register on their website www.HCC.net or call (360) 898-2481 to be included in the free initial installation with no obligation to activate service. This installation is being paid for by a grant so take advantage while you can! Installation is set to be completed for all properties south of Mt Walker by August 2024. Also, they have requested to place their substation at the Brinnon Fire Dept. That way in the event of a power outage, backup power will keep the internet on and working for Brinnon residents.
